Go Swimming and Have Fun in Your Wig

9th Dec 2014

You are going to the beach this winter and would love to be able to enjoy the sun, sand, surf and pool with your friends. However, you don’t want to jeopardize your beautiful wig at any cost. How do you swim with your wig and keep from having your wig or natural hair get nasty and tangled. There are a few pieces of info to keep in mind if you plan on getting your wig wet.

Human hair can become a tangled mess when it gets wet with swimming. Your best luck will be with full lace synthetic hair wigs. The synthetic wig, secured with a waterproof adhesive will hold. You may want to test out the adhesive under water before you leave for your trip and make sure it holds even with activity. It’s also a good idea to tie a band or handkerchief around the hairline to cover any peeling, should it happen. Again, if you use a tested adhesive, this should not happen. The good thing is, your synthetic hair will also look and move like real hair in the water without getting tangled.

Protect yourself. If you wear your wig over your natural hair, use a diffuser to dry out your natural hair under the wig. If you don’t have a diffuser, take off the wig immediately after and wash both your natural hair and the wig after swimming to keep your hair and scalp clean. If you don’t get your natural hair dry, it will remain wet and start to mold under the wig. Even if your wig dries, your hair underneath will get stinky and if left long enough, you could lose your hair. Above all, enjoy your vacation and have fun!
